The clock is ticking, everything is getting booked up and you only have 12 months left to plan your wedding. Don’t panic, but do run through our 12 month checklist to make sure that you are on track.

 

Twelve Months to go

First things first, between you come up with a budget.

Book a venue! Venues are the hardest thing to tie down to your preferred date. Call round your preferred places and book in your personal wedding viewing as soon as possible.

Pick a date. If your venue doesn’t have your preferred date see if they have something close, or if the date is vital look at changing venue.

Book your registrar. You can book your registrar a year to the day of your wedding day. Find your preferred one and be ready to call them!

 

Nine to eleven Months to go

Pick your wedding party. Who do you want by your side on your big day, and how many people do you need.

Find your dress. Take your closest friends and family to help you find the right dress. Colour, design, veil… You’re going to need help. Remember your budget? No, me neither.

Book your entertainment. Dj’s and bands get booked up so quickly. Check your venue will allow a band. Think about the vibe you want and put down a deposit.

You’ll want photo memories so research for your photographer. Make sure you get a guarantee of the how much of the day will be photographed, and that you’ll have full rights to all the photos.

Six to eight months to go

Where are your guests going to stay? Block book a local hotel and try get a discounted rate.

Decide on your wedding carriage. Classic car or something fun?

Time to start worrying about colours. Dress the bridesmaids and pick out your floral decor.

Send Invitations!

Confirm food plans with venue. Sit down meal? BBQ? Buffet? Hog Roast?

 

Three to five months to go

Who’s making the cake? Do you have that family friend that’s an incredible baker? If not get online and find a wedding cake specialist.

Plan your honeymoon. Make sure you’ve left enough budget for the two of you to have a nice get away.

Dress your groom and groomsmen. They might even fancy doing it themselves.

Go wedding ring shopping.

 

One to two months to go

If you wanted to make the ceremony more personal to the two of you, It’s time to write your vows.

Try on your dress again. Make sure it is perfect.

Check your guest list and chase up those annoying few who havn’t got back to you.

Make sure your photographer, band and DJ know exactly what you want from them. Specific photos and songs that are going to make your day.

4 weeks to go

Four weeks to go

Hair. Have your hairdresser and barber practice your wedding day hair.

Give your venue the final guest list that they will have to cater for.

Finalise the dreaded seating plan.

Give your venue the arrival times and details of your photographer, DJ and band.

Stag and Hen dos! Last night of freedom!

 

The last week

Pick up dresses, suits, decorations, favours, flowers.

Ring venders to confirm times.

Give wedding rings to best man and maid of honour ready for the ceremony.

Pay everyone!
