At Old Down we love the outdoors, and our play area has been a very important part of our park from the beginning. As we welcome many families all year round, our play area is a great place for children to run around and make memories whilst the parents can sit back with a coffee and a treat from our café and relax for a while, so we decided to give it a spruce-up!
At Old Down, we love to encourage outdoor play in all weather and our new equipment does just that, whilst inspiring children to explore the nature and space around them, come rain or shine. As our play equipment is all outdoors, we wanted to ensure our equipment was kept up to standard – so having new equipment was a no brainer. It’s the prefect addition to our pre-existing play park.
The Plans
We wanted our new play area to cater for children of all ages to explore and enjoy, as well as it being environmentally friendly. We chose TouchWood to complete this project as they were able to design the perfect playground for Old Down. TouchWood were the best fit for us as they took our environmental concerns into account, as they use sustainable FCS timber, and were able to design us the perfect play area that incorporated our original wooden play area into the design.
Features
So, what new and exciting features does our playground have?
The new area has equipment for children of all ages, so no one misses out on the fun.
We have a ‘Sand Kitchen’ area for the children to enjoy, which includes a sand pit with a climbing area and a slide, as well as a bucket on a chain for the children to transport buckets of sand up and down the play area.
The large climbing area is an impressive build which we’re sure you’ll all love and appreciate. Featuring a bridge with an attached swing, slide, and stunning woodwork. The children will absolutely love it.
As well as this, we are very excited for the return of the zipwire! We have a new zipwire which runs alongside the rest of the play area.
That’s not all. We have also installed more swings, talk tubes, chimes and more.
We’re sure all these children will love these new bespoke additions.
We are very excited to introduce these new additions to our park and are so pleased that we were able to work with local supplier TouchWood, to design, source and build an environmentally friendly play equipment for us.
When is it open?
Our new equipment is open now and ready for the children to enjoy!
The play area will continue to grow as we develop it over the next few years.
