To get you all excited, we will be putting out a couple of blogs each week to give you some information about the suppliers who will be joining us. This week, we hear from the talented Iced Magic Cakes about creating bespoke wedding cakes.

Iced Magic: Bespoke Cake Design

I have always been creative and artistic which led me to spend four years studying in London where I gained an Honours Degree in jewellery design. This helped me to learn the skills that now assist in the process of designing and creating my unique cakes.

On graduation I worked as a designer jeweller in South Africa before returning to the UK which is when I discovered my talent for creating cakes. After a number of years creating cakes for families and friends I started trading as Iced Magic in 1999.

I have built up a reputation over the years for my ethical approach to my business and pride myself on my friendly personal service. I am a recommended supplier at an ever growing list of wedding and event venues. This means that I attend a large number of Wedding Shows every year as a preferred supplier. Over the years I have developed a real friendship with many of my clients and there is nothing better than the repeat business and personal recommendations that I receive. One of my most precious processions is my thank you book which is stuffed full with cards, letters and emails from years of happy customers.

I design and make each cake following detailed discussions, numerous sketching sessions, and a personal consultation which allows me to create my bespoke cakes. This process can be carried out by email and telephone conversation if location or time is an issue. If you are going to order a cake for your special occasion or wedding, what could be better than having one designed and created just for you?

My design background means that I do not follow the rules when designing and creating my cakes. Rather than searching for designs to imitate I relish the challenge of each new enquiry. All of my cakes are hand baked and hand decorated by me with hand crafted decorations most of which are entirely edible. With personal details such as the lace from your wedding dress hand piped onto the cake, delicate designs hand painted or maybe handmade caricatures, my cakes are pieces of edible art. My 3-dimensional sculpture cakes are very popular and my signature Fantasy Castle cakes are a pleasure to create as each one is different, hand sculpted and finished with details to make them really special to my clients. My attention to detail is always commented on. My cakes not only look wonderful from a distance, but also as you move closer, the finer details that I pride myself on will become apparent.

My cakes are available in a variety of flavours and you can choose from a wide range of fillings. I bake and decorate all of my cakes by hand using quality ingredients and free range eggs. The taste of your cake is as important to me as the design. After all, you will want your cake to be as delicious as it is visually stunning!

When I am not creating my cakes and when time allows I also sculpt in driftwood and have recently started wood carving. In fact I constantly have something either in the process of being created or taking shape in my head and in my sketch book. I am looking forward to hearing what you would like me to create for you.
