Its Back… 2023 will see the return of our Festive Illumination Trail! A magical sensory experience that lights the beauty of our Country Park. This year, our after dark event will feature a Starry Night trail guiding you around Old Down Estate, surrounding you with music, colour and light with interactive areas along the way. A truly magical Christmas experience for children and adults to explore.
This year we are introducing ‘Calm Sessions’ on our Monday evening illumination events, with a reduced capacity and lower volume festive music, this event allows more space and time for you to enjoy.
We are a dog friendly venue and dogs are more than welcome to join you on this magical trial. We simply ask you keep all dogs on a lead and clean up any mess after them.
Avoid disappointment and book in advance as this event is likely to sell out; slots available from 16.30pm.

Do I need a ticket for under 2s?
Yes, Under 2s go free, however we still ask you secure a ticket.
Who is the trail for?
Our Illumination Trail is for the whole family, all ages.
Under 2s go free, and we offer concession tickets for those who are 60+.
Are dogs allowed on the trail?
Absolutely – well behaved dogs on short leads are more than welcome to the Illumination Trail.
Is the Illumination Trail accessible?
Our Illumination trial is an outdoor event with a large proportion of the trail adhering to pathways, however some areas which will be grassy and mixed terrain.
Opening times/dates
Our trail will be running from November 26th, throughout December. We have three sessions per event evening at 16:30pm – 17:15pm, 17:15 – 18:30pm & 18:30pm – 19:15pm. This year we are introducing ‘Sensitive Sessions’ on our Monday evening illumination events. These sessions will feature reduced noise and less capacity to appeal to anyone who would prefer a more sensitive experience. Event subject to availability. Event finishes at 19:30.
Will there be food and drink?
Yes, our café will be open to purchase food and drink for you to enjoy when walking the illumination trail. Why not grab a mulled wine or a hot chocolate to warm yourself up.

Are we restricted to our time slot?
We ask for arrival at the beginning of your time slot, however you can enter at anytime during your allotted booking time. Once you have entered you are welcome to explore the trail as many times as you like before leaving. Please note our events close at 19.30pm, unless otherwise stated.
Is there anywhere Indoors?
Our Illumination event is an outdoor trail, however we our Barn venue will be open for indoor seating featuring our log burners should you need to warm up on those winter evenings.
What if the weather is poor?
We are predominately an outdoor venue and continue to monitor the conditions on the day. All events will go ahead where possible.
Can I get a refund?
Due to our booking terms and conditions we are unable to offer a refund. However with 48hrs prior notice we will offer a change in date/ time subject to availability.
