You can read the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about a visit to Old Down Country Park, our spa or weddings. If you still haven’t found what you’re looking for, get in touch and we’ll be only too happy to help.

What are your admission prices?

  • Adults: £15.00
  • Children (aged 2 – 15): £10.50
  • Children (under 2): Free
  • Concessions (over 60s, childminders): £10.50
  • Families (2 adults/2 children): £45.00
  • Carers: Free 

Carers go free. Please bring along valid proof of identity to show that the accompanying person is a carer. If this is not possible, we will offer a concessionary rate.

Do you offer any discounts or concessions?

We offer a 10% discount for students, NHS workers and Special Forces members who can present a valid ID. Please buy tickets when you arrive at our ticket office to receive your discount.

What are your park opening times?

  • October – March: 10am – 4pm daily
  • April – September: 10am – 5pm daily
  • Closures:   Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day

Is there access for limited mobility visitors or wheelchair users?

If you have a specific requirement or request, please get in touch with us ahead of your visit on 0347 776 9380. Our provisions for limited-mobility visitors and wheelchair users include:

  • Ground-level access throughout the centre of the estate
  • Ramps into the shop and ground-level access to the Barn Café
  • Disabled car parking spaces at the front of the car park
  • A disabled toilet

Please note that terrain includes grass, gravel and tarmac. Our walks to the lake may not be suitable.

Guide and assistance dogs are most welcome.

 

How do I get to Old Down Country Park?

Our postcode is BS32 4PG.

Northbound

From Bristol and the South, exit the M5 at Junction 16. Take the A38 to the traffic lights at Alveston (near Thornbury). Turn left towards Thornbury at the Hyundai Garage then take the next left, opposite The Ship Inn pub. Go along the road for nearly two miles and turn right opposite a football field (follow the brown sign to Old Down Estate). Take the second entrance to the estate on your left.

Southbound

From Gloucester, the Midlands and the North, exit the M5 at Junction 14, follow the A38 to the traffic lights at Alveston (near Thornbury). Turn right towards Thornbury then take the left opposite The Ship pub. Go along the road for nearly two miles and turn right opposite a football field (follow the brown sign to Old Down Estate). Take the second entrance to the estate on your left.

Eastbound

From South Wales, use the old Severn Bridge and exit the M48 at Junction 1 (immediately after the Bridge) and follow the signs to Thornbury. After passing through Elberton, climb the hill and turn right into Foxholes Lane at the top on a sharp left-hand bend. Old Down Country Park is situated on the right-hand side halfway along the lane.

Is Old Down Country Park at the same place as Old Down Manor?

Yes, it’s the same place, although guests attending an event at The Manor use the entrance closest to Alveston Road (it’s locked when there isn’t an event on). For information on The Manor, please visit olddownestate.co.uk/weddings.

Do you have family-friendly facilities?

We’re proud to offer plenty of facilities to make you and every member of your family feel welcome.

  • Baby changing facilities - located in the toilets opposite the café
  • Breast-feeding friendly - if you require more privacy do let us know and we can accommodate you
  • Highchairs and child-friendly meals, both available in the café

Are you dog friendly?

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome in the park, but they must always be kept on a short lead – and please clear up any mess!

Do I need to pre-book tickets in advance?

Park entry tickets are available to buy online in advance, and we do recommend booking ahead of your visit to guarantee entry and reduce queuing times during busy periods. Plus, tickets bought online are not restricted to a particular date and are valid for one year from purchase. Alternatively, you can buy tickets from our ticket office or café on arrival.

For all special events at the park, please book in advance via our website to ensure entry and availability. Entry is restricted to event dates only.

How do I book Afternoon Tea?

Afternoon Tea must be pre-booked and any changes need to made at least 48 prior. You can check availability and book here. If you have a gift voucher, please input your 16 digit code in the gift voucher box upon checkout.

We’re delighted to cater for a variety of dietary requirements – just leave a note in the comments box at the time of booking.

Enjoy a discounted entry price of £5 per person when you book afternoon tea. Just show your afternoon tea booking details when you arrive at the ticket office to receive your discount.

Do I need to pre-book Sunday Lunch?

Our Sunday Lunches are very popular so we’d strongly recommend booking in advance to make sure you get a table. You can check availability and book here. Please note that we ask for a deposit of £5 per person at the time of booking. This is redeemable from your final bill.

Do I have to pay park entry to visit the café?

No need to pay park entry to visit our café but if you'd like to explore the park too, then yes. Our café serves food from 9am-3pm, click here to view the menu.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes, you can purchase monetary, day pass and membership vouchers. We offer both email vouchers or physical. Please note there will be an extra charge for postage if you'd like a physical voucher. To purchae a voucher, please email us at [email protected] or visit the park.

How do I book a visit to Foxhills Spa?

There are a few ways you can book into our day spa facilities for a little well-earned relaxation.

What are the Foxhills Spa opening times?

  • Monday to Wednesday: 10am ­– 5pm
  • Thursdays: 10am – 8pm
  • Fridays and Saturdays: 10am – 5pm

We offer bookings on weekday evenings and Sundays on a request-only basis with a minimum guest requirement.

Where is Foxhills Spa?

Foxhills Spa is situated next to the Manor House, in the grounds of Old Down Estate. Please use the Old Down Country Park car park and entrance, where a member of our team will direct you.

Do you have any accommodation available to spa visitors?

As a day spa we don’t have overnight accommodation available on site. However, during the summer season, Old Down Country Park offers bell tent glamping, available within Old Down Estate, just a short walk from the spa.

Can I book a wedding venue tour?

Of course! Our team are on hand to personally show you around our two special venues. Email [email protected] or fill in our online enquiry form and a coordinator will be in touch to arrange a suitable time for your visit. We can also arrange evening and weekend viewings, subject to availability.

Do you hold private events other than weddings?

Yes, we offer a range of hire packages for both our Manor and Barn. From corporate days and private parties to celebrations of life and baby showers. Whatever the occasion, we're here to make it special.
